The YEARLY Minute - Dec. 30, 2022
A special ‘Weekly Minute’ version, appropriately titled ‘Yearly Minute’ where I recap some of the Best of 2022. Obviously this isn’t an all-inclusive list for each category, but what came to mind when I started typing.
It’s been an exciting year, both personally and professionally - which included a new job in last few weeks of 2022.
Thanks for reading my posts in the past two months. Hoping to keep this habit going into the new year!
What I’ve Read This YEAR

Thought Leadership Articles from Farnam Street:
Two Mindsets (via Farnam Street)
"The passion for stretching yourself and sticking to it, even when it’s not going well, is the hallmark of the growth mindset. This is the mindset that allows people to thrive during some of the most challenging times in their lives." - Carol Dweck
There are two main mindsets we can navigate life with: growth and fixed. Having a growth mindset is essential for success. In this post, we explore how to develop the right mindset for improving your intelligence.
Today, Not Tomorrow (via Farnam Street)
"Today, not tomorrow.
What you avoid today is harder to do tomorrow.
Today’s choices become tomorrow’s position. If you put off things today, they don’t magically disappear tomorrow. They just get added to the list of things you want to do.
Don’t wait till tomorrow. Tomorrow is where dreams go to die.”
Paying for Outcomes (via Farnam Street)
Tapping with a hammer………………….. $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap…………………….. $ 9,998.00
Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort makes all the difference!
What I Learned This YEAR
What Makes a Great Strategist (via Roger Martin)
A great strategist has the confidence to invent the future, that is, to make true something that is not now true.
Mediocre strategists believe that optimizing the present is sufficient for success. Great strategists know they have to aim higher.
'Ideal Performance State' (via Harvard Business Review)
The 'Ideal Performance State' -- peak performance under pressures -- is achieved when all of these levels are working together.
Something I learned from 'Tools of Titans' -->
Have a running list of people that you are always watching:
People you want to emulate
Peers that are doing a good job
People that you would want on your team
Not Yet
I love this. We're all just on a learning curve... forever.
One Quote
“The two skills of modern business: Storytelling and Spreadsheets. Know the numbers. Craft the narrative." - James Clear
Healthcare Corner
The Telehealth Era Is Just Beginning (via Harvard Business Review)
When used appropriately, Telehealth improves patient health, reduces costs, and makes care accessible to more people.
It should now be an integral piece of care delivery, not just a knockoff for in-office care.
The Biggest Company in the World (via a16z)
"Our bet is the future’s biggest company, the consumer health giant, won’t be one of today’s big tech or incumbent healthcare companies. It will be a consumer-obsessed, healthcare-native tech company that reimagines what care can look like."
The next frontier of care delivery in healthcare (via McKinsey)
Patient-centric >
Creating satisfied patients (through care, technology, experience) has a profound impact on business.
Also, a few, big shifts that will define the future of healthcare in the U.S.:
Patient-centric
Virtual
Ambulatory
In-home
Value-based
Driven by data
Misc. Thought
I want to leave you with this powerful quote I read earlier in the year.
Forget chasing experiences. It's all wonderful, if you so choose.
On to 2023!
