The Weekly Minute - 1.26.24
Hello, and Happy Week!
First of all, I’m admittedly not the biggest baseball fan. But I love the Minnesota Twins. And growing up, I spent 15 years watching Joe Mauer.
I was excited to see this week that he was elected as a First Ballot Hall of Famer.
It’s an incredible achievement for the St-Paul native.
Speaking of sports, enjoy the football this weekend. Just three games left this year. :(
Now, onto the week.
One Bit of Motivation
It’s never ready.
Just ship it.
We often find ourselves stuck in the pursuit of perfection, waiting for that moment when everything is flawless before hitting the publish button. But what if I told you that sometimes, the key to progress lies in embracing imperfection?
"Done is better than perfect" is a mantra that has resonated with me. It's about recognizing that there will never be a "perfect" moment, a "perfect" product, or a "perfect" idea. Instead of letting the pursuit of perfection paralyze us, let's focus on progress.
Shipping something – be it a project, a blog post, or a product – before it's 100% ready might sound daunting, but it opens the door to valuable feedback, learning experiences, and growth.
It's about being agile, adapting, and iterating based on real-world responses.
One Framework
Ikiagi
I shared this on my LInkedIn earlier this week, but I was recently reminded by this incredible Japanese concept.
This framework translates to "a reason for being" or "a reason to wake up in the morning." This Japanese concept intertwines passion, mission, vocation, and profession – a sweet spot where the magic happens! It's more than a diagram; it's a compass guiding us towards a fulfilling existence.
It encourages individuals to explore and reflect on each component to find a holistic and balanced approach to life.
Challenge for You: Reflect on your Ikigai. What are the elements that make your heart race and bring a spark to your eyes?
One View on Customer Experience
Stop Wasting Customers’ Time (via Shep Hyken)
I love the weekly cartoons that Shep provides, always based on the customer experience.
This is a great one - if you’re making your customer go through the same process multiple times, you’re creating a negative experience.
One Note on Healthcare
Amazon's vision for a 'frictionless' future in healthcare (via Becker’s)
In 2024, Amazon will be zeroing in on making healthcare easier for consumers.
"We are working to make it dramatically easier for customers to find, choose, afford and engage with the services, products and professionals they need to get and stay healthy.” - Sunita Mishra, MD, chief medical officer of Amazon Health Services"
They are focused on working to make what should be easier in healthcare, easier.
I, for one, am very excited to see how this continues to play out.
