What I Read This Week
A Thought from James Clear:
“Speed is perpetually undervalued.
Asking that person out today means you get to live more of your life with them and less of your life waiting.
Starting your business today means you begin learning immediately and have more time to figure out what works.
Go fast. The future is never guaranteed and the right time may never come.”
UnitedHealth's new tech exec on how the company is aiming to accelerate transformation (via Fierce Healthcare)
Sandeep Dadlani, chief digital and technology officer of UnitedHealth Group's Optum Technology, aims to accelerate innovation in the healthcare industry. He believes that establishing clear frameworks for innovation, finding the right partners, and having a deep understanding of the individual member, or "zero distance," are key to success.
I love this thought of “zero distance” to the patient.
Dadlani also said that the company's large membership base makes it an incubator for new technology that can benefit the entire industry.
Preaching Never Outweighs Performance (via 2001 Warren Buffet Shareholder Letter)
Everyone tries to predict the future. But it’s a loser’s game.
Instead of predicting rain, focus on building the Ark. The Ark is a durable business that can weather the storm.

A Parting Thought
Do less but do better.
Focusing on what matters is crucial. If you spend energy on what doesn't, it takes away from what does. By investing some extra time, you can elevate the standard from just okay to excellent. Concentrate on fewer things, raise the bar, and distinguish yourself from the rest.
