What I Read This Week
Use the Science of Flourishing to Increase Your Well-Being (via Harvard Business Review)
A recent Gallup report showed that only 33% of employees are thriving in overall well-being while burnout rates are on the rise. Here, HBR recommends adopting a flourishing mindset to protect and rebuild mental and physical health. Flourishing means connecting to a sense of purpose, experiencing positive emotions, building relationships, and recognizing accomplishments, even in challenging moments. Developing habits that cultivate well-being is especially important early in one's career, and there are science-based practices that take only five minutes to help cultivate flourishing. These include establishing a gratitude practice, prioritizing acts of kindness, and practicing mindfulness.
The Feynman Technique (via Sahil Bloom)
The Learning Pyramid indicates that teaching is a much more effective driver of retention than reading or lecture. The goal should be to move rapidly to teaching in order to cement new learning.
The Feynman Technique is a learning model that leverages teaching and prioritizes simplicity to help you develop a deep understanding of any topic.
The four key steps of the Feynman Technique:
(1) Set the Stage
(2) ELI5
(3) Assess & Study
(4) Organize, Convey, & Review.
One Quote
“When you first start to study a field, it seems like you have to memorize a zillion things. You don’t. What you need is to identify the core principles – generally three to twelve of them – that govern the field. The million things you thought you had to memorize are simply various combinations of the core principles.”

Healthcare Corner
'Health system' is out; here's what comes next (via Becker’s)
The term "health system" is becoming obsolete as organizations begin to focus more on at-home services, urgent and immediate care, and triaging patients appropriately. Some organizations, like Stony Brook Medicine, have started internally rebranding themselves as "health platforms" to reflect this shift.
Becker’s also highlights how organizations are thinking about the future of healthcare and preparing the workforce for the changes to come. John Couris, president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital and Florida Health Sciences Center at the University of Southern Florida, views their organization as a family of businesses to address healthcare challenges.
What I Watched, Masters Edition
In addition to the exquisite golf this week, I saw this video — an incredible breakdown on the famous 12th at Augusta National, and why it can be such a deadly trap for contenders on Sunday:
Enjoy the scenes from Augusta National – even though the weekend weather looks treacherous.
Speaking of this particular golf tournament, major kudos to @TheMasters social channels. Incredible content all week long.
