McDonald’s and Coke
(via AllRecipes) You're not the only one who thinks the Coke at Mickey D's is the best—it really is special.
While most fast food restaurants have their Coca-Cola syrup delivered to them in plastic bags, McDonald's gets their syrup specially delivered in stainless steel tanks. The special tanks keep the syrup fresh and protect it from light, temperature, air, and anything else that might take away from its delicious flavor. Sadly, the plastic bags do no such thing.
No matter what McDonald's you go to, the Coke will always taste the same.
Paying $300 Per Plate
Eleven Madison Park is perceived as the world’s best restaurant. Why?
Because they look to craft a truly personal experience for every diner and create singular moments with a sense of magic -- whether that’s with an unexpected flourish or simply by serving them delicious food.
Perhaps the coolest part of the strategy is their 'dreamweaver' role. These folks use bits of diner information to connect dots and make incredible experiences. With these roles, Eleven Madison Park is preparing for spontaneity; engineered to flourish with little information.
Great cuisine is great, yes. But any great chef can provide that. It's the meticulous attention to detail of the entire dining experience, & a commitment to continuously evolving that makes the real difference.
That is why people pay $300 per plate.
Motivation
Why are we more motivated by rewards of unknown sizes? (via The Decision Lab)
We often find ourselves to be more motivated by rewards of unknown magnitudes than by known rewards because the uncertainty makes it feel like a game.
However, this effect, which is known as the motivating uncertainty effect, only occurs when we focus on the journey towards the reward and not when we focus on actually winning the reward.

A Thought for the Weekend
Invite everyone into projects. None of us are as good as all of us.
And if you work in an organization, things will move faster if everyone gets involved in making the strategy.
