The Weekly Minute - May 24, 2024

I’m going to stay on the Timberwolves topic, as has been for a few weeks. I enjoyed my favorite Wolves game of all time last Sunday. They came back from 20 points down in the second half to stun the defending champion Nuggets and advance to the Western Conference Finals.

Here’s to hoping we get a good Game 2 tonight and even the series vs. Dallas.

In other news, I’m wishing a Happy Memorial Day weekend to my followers.

“All I could do was make coffee, so I made coffee.”

Teddy Roosevelt once said, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."

Every single day, you will face a variety of moments, many of which will conspire to make you feel completely helpless—unable to move or create the necessary momentum to change or improve the situation.

In these moments, you have a decision to make:

  • You can freeze, paralyzed by the imperfection of your options...or

  • You can act. You can do what you can, with what you have, where you are. You can make the coffee.

It is the most important decision of your life.

Silo mentality

70% of executives view “silo mentality” as the biggest obstacle to improving the customer experience. The path of least resistance is to stay in our silos. But that’s not what we’re looking for

Steve Jobs and simplicity

via The Daily Coach

The work of a true genius is to take the complex and make it simple.  In life, when things are simple, life is happier.

And that’s why  Simplicity was a cornerstone of Jobs’ leadership principles.

Patient experience vs. customer experience

via Health Leaders

Is there a difference between *patient* and *customer* experience within healthcare?

I've always thought of them as one in the same.

“Health Leaders” disagrees -- and I'm starting to see their point.

"Customers" are convenience-focused and transactional. "Patients" are much more vulnerable and want to spend time with their healthcare providers.

A parting thought for the three-day weekend

Here’s an approach I’d like to start taking when it comes to content on the Internet.

Twitter/X as the testing ground. We can swing and miss all day. So best to post a lot and…

If an idea takes off, re-write it for LinkedIn.

If it takes off on LinkedIn, I should use that as the sign to do a deeper dive into that topic via blog, article, etc.
